Does anyone know if there is a train or bus which goes from Dijon to Louhans.
How long of a trip is it? I hope I can do this as a day trip. Thank you! Any info
is much appreciated.
You can check train schedules on the Deutsche Bahn website. It appears that service isn't terribly frequent but is good enough, at least on weekdays (I didn't check weekends), to do this as a day trip. The running time varies from 68 minutes to over 90 minutes for most departures.
Rome2Rio.com did not turn up any bus service, but occasionally it misses a bus line.
Hi everyone.
Being French and living in Burgundy I thought maybe I could help.
You can reach Louhans from Dijon within 1 hr to 2 hrs. Depending on the time you may get a direct train or have to catch a connecting bus, but there are several departures per day most of them direct. Fare O/W starts around 15 €.
FYI the region is in France so no need to check DeutschBahn which is the national German train network. Have a look at www.voyages-sncf.com and browse the english pages..
I fully agree with Charlie. And as you'll use slow trains only (no TGV) you may also use their dedicated website https://www.ter.sncf.com/bourgogne. Bon voyage!
Just a thought on Louhans....they have the most wonderful market there!! It has been years since we have been , but we drove from Avallon very early because my husband is a professional photographer and we had read about it....it is huge and besides the regular produce farmers bring live animals and chefs from all over the area are there to buy fresh produce, eggs, and live chickens, ducks etc. Monday is the market day. We got up and left at 3 AM to get there early and it was amazing.
There is a train that takes about 80 minutes if you get one of the direct routings. You can take a bus to Louhans from Chalon-sur-Saone and you can get to Chalon easily by train from Dijon. The bus (Route 8 of Buscephale) runs very infrequently.
