Did read, no longer paper tickets available. Used anyone the Metro App Paris? Was it very complecated?

Do you need an app to have a digital metro ticket work?
Following instructions from The Man in Seat 61, I did a trial purchase of a single trip ticket right in my Apple wallet. The ticket appears in the travel pass section of my wallet now.
Will I also need to download an app before trying to use it?

Does the Paris Metro support contactless, like tap a contactless credit card or use Apple Pay from your iPhone?
Maybe that's why they got rid of paper tickets?
OK, I did a quick search. No you can't use contactless with your card or devices.
They plan to roll it out in the next two years.
Oh well.

The bus network has already converted a large percentage of their Navigo card readers to accept Visa/MC. Fare is 2.55€ rather than the otherwise 2.05€.
