We have an 11:05 am flight tomorrow on American Airlines through DFW. We received our boarding passes on our phone and we aren’t checking any luggage. Do we need to print our boarding passes? Or will they accept the boarding pass on our phone?
If a company offers a digital boarding pass, it is likely to honour it. On the other hand, smart devices are not 100 per cent reliable. I know, because I've often stood in line while people jiggled their gizmos for the scanner. Printing out the passes seems like a decent back-up, especially in case your machine loses itself or takes a dive into a bathroom appliance.
Yes, in general they will. However, make sure that instead of having to log in to your app, save the ticket as a photo (or screen grab). That way everyone in line doesn't have to wait for you to pull it up on their phone. Also make sure to have your phone's screen on bright as well.
They accepted ours in May, also with carryon only. However, being something of a Luddite anyway, I always print the things out just in case.
I'll also agree a screenshot of the boarding pass is the trick. You didn't say which airline, but there are plenty of Air France kiosks that will print AF/Delta boarding passes, including a bunch just outside the TGV/RER station.
I usually prefer to have a printed boarding pass, just in case of "technical issues". I've experienced problems with scanners not being able to read the boarding pass on my phone during domestic flights, so I'd rather not take any chances with international flights.
