Driving on a secondary road South of Poitiers in April 2017 I crossed a small bridge and what I assumed was a camera flashed. I figured I had triggered a speed camera. It has been 2.5 years and I have had no notification of any infraction. Is it safe to assume that nothing will come of it?

Absolutely !!! IF any thing was going to happen you would have been alerted initially when the rental car company charged you with an administrative fee for sending you name and address to the local authorities. Since that didn't happen I doubt if there was any ticket involved. A lot of the speed cameras work without a flash so it could have been something else. And France does not have a reputation of aggressively pursuing US traffic violators.
So you you must be faster than a Speeding bullet. Super, man!
No.
If you ever go back to France again they may stop you at the airport.
So maybe they monitor roads for speeding, but in France, it’s a shame they don’t monitor tailgating. And if the car in front’s already going faster than the speed limit, then the tailgater’s even worse!
I’m surprised you’re still thinking about it. I assume that if I haven’t received anything after about 6 or 7 months, then all is good. Had you received an infraction, seems the rental car company would have notified you. Or, it’s possible you did trigger a camera and the municipality just never sent you the ticket. That happened to me in Germany in 2012; I received notification from the rental company, but never received a ticket. I doubt you’d get stopped at the airport.
No.

I know that was intended as a joke. That is absolutely false. Immigration and traffic data bases are not tied together.
I have read about delays in receiving a French ticket, but nothing like 2 1/2 years. I think I got mine a couple of months after the fact.
Thanks for the replies. I pretty much suspected what Frank said, I'm gonna go with the majority on this and not give it another thought. Sorry Jazz.

If you were going to hear, you should have received something in the first month. The rental agency generally provides your information (and charges you a service charge for doing so). If there was no extra charge from the rental agent on your card and you haven't received anything in the mail, you can probably forget about it.
I'm not sure if there will be any record that will pop up unexpectedly (renting a car, another traffic stop)? If so, you can deal with it then.
I had a ticket on my car in Arles on a Sunday in 2017. It didn't show any fine or place to send money. I didn't get anything from the rental company so the best I can guess it was just a notice or warning.
