Hi travelers,
Seeking best place to stay in the Bordeaux region for two/three nights, traveling by train from Paris.
Also, please suggest a good two/three day stopover in France between Barcelona and Chamonix
Nightly budget $100-200, a little more for extreme value.
Paris boutique hotels and B&B's recommendations also appreciated.

Between Barcelona and Chamonix, you will have to traverse the Provence area of southern France. That would be the natural choice of a stopover between Barcelona and Chamonix.
In Provence, since you are traveling by train and not renting a car, I recommend sleeping in Arles and seeing Arles on foot and Avignon and Nimes by train.
As a general rule your lodging budget will go farther outside of Paris.
In Paris, expect to pay the upper end of your budget, or somewhat more.
In Paris, l'Empereur. Although there are about a thousand or two other choices. So you should do your own research.
I'll suggest the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles in Paris, quiet, comfortable, well located, surrounding a nice garden in the Latin Quarter. There are many other excellent places to stay which you'll hear about from others very soon! :-)
