Am wanting to tour Provence and coast with my daughter in car in June for 10 days and am coming from Paris. Am trying to decide whether to get train to Lyon or Avignon to start the car journey. Help please :)
Following this, am planning to spend 15 days to head to Barcelona, south of Spain and finish in Lisbon. Does train sound viable to Barcelona and then car from there?

In most cases, I would suggest Avignon TGV as a starting point. In your particular case, I would also look at options from Nîmes (central station), because you are likely to take the train to Barcelona from Nîmes (more options than from Avignon, where there is only one train to Barcelona quite early in the morning).
Besides, with 10 days to play with, even though it is not technically Provence I would really recommend to spend 2 days touring the Nimes-Uzes-Pont du Gard area, and perhaps add Aigues Mortes if you have another day.
