Dday tours

I am looking to tour Normandy in Sept of 2020. My uncle is buried in the American Cemetery. He came through Utah beach during the second wave of the invasion. He was wounded in the hedgerows on the way to Cherbourg. I would love to walk his path. I am looking for a more personalized tour and guide as opposed to the generic Omaha beach tour. Do you have suggestions? We may have up to 8 adults. Also looking for reasonable price. Thank you.

Dale Booth was our guide on a RS tour. Excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and he’s able to paint a very vivid picture of the day’s events. He really brings it to life. He is expensive but with 8 of you the per person cost comes down to a more reasonable level. Do book well in advance as it sounds like he books up quickly.

Many forum members report good experiences with overlord tours.

fly,

Dale Booth would be an excellent choice but you'll have to book very early as he's very popular. If you'll have a car, you could also consider Chris Emery at http://www.visitdday.com/ (although with a group of eight you'd need a larger vehicle). Overlord Tour would also be good and they should be able to provide transportation for a group of that size.

It would also be a good idea to book accommodations well in advance. The Churchill Hotel is very popular and is in a good, central location.

My husband and I did a day tour with Dale in 2005. It was just the three of us and it is a travel highlight of mine. He personalized it for us with a combo of the American highlights, Band of Brothers highlights, and Point du Hoc/American cemetery. He only has 2 days open in Sept 2020 as of now and isn't cheap (675 euros for the group) but he was well worth it! His website is https://dboothnormandytours.com.
