My wife and I will be in Dijon April 30 to May 4 of 2017. Does anyone have any suggestions for daytrips (other than Beaune) from Dijon. We will not have a car. Thanks. Much appreciated for suggestions.
Rick's France guidebook has a good run-down of transport and tour options in the Burgundy chapter, even though it doesn't cover Dijon. But since you're willing to drive during the Alsace portion of your trip, my first choice would be to keep the car longer. You need not pick up and drop off in the same city; any place in France costs about the same with the major car rental companies.
If you keep the car you can easily visit the Fontenay Abbey (possible by train plus cab) with a loop that includes Semur and Chateuneuf and/or Flavigney (wheels required, practically speaking). Vezeley and the towns of the Serien valley are lovely, if that's not too far for you for a day trip.
I'd recommend going to Lyon in the morning, wandering around the Vieille Ville, then go for a nice lunch - takes about 2 hours one way and is cheap and fast.
Google Translate works OK for this website:

Welcome to my beautiful town, hope you'll like it as I do. You'll find many suggestions here, by car train or bus http://tinyurl.com/pnh2vzq. Have fun!
