Looking for suggestions of good day trips (by car or train) from London...that both adults and teens would enjoy.

You would be better focusing on train travel for both cities, as hiring a car and getting stuck in traffic will be too time consuming for a day trip.
What are your interests?

I know the list of options is huge!!! I was hoping that anyone who has traveled there with teens, might have some suggestions such as....typical tourist locales that can be put lower on list; typical tourist locales to keep higher on list; places that are not on the "must see" lists, but you happened to find and highly suggest; etc. We have prepared our teens for museums, but they are more into walking around and seeing sights. Good food, getting off the beaten paths.
For instance, a few years ago my first trip overseas was to Barcelona. Some of the "must see" places on the tourist lists I would say put on your if have time list. A few days I chose to walk to a tourist hot spot, as opposed to train, and found places to visit and eat that were much better than on my original list ;)
Thank you!!!
