Hello fellow travelers,
I am going to Paris in August and am traveling with two children and a troublesome ankle. I’d love to arrange for a vehicle, preferably air conditioned, to take us to Giverny for the day, or half day. Does anyone have experience with this and recommendations? Merci for your consideration.
Have you already ruled out the usually recommended train/shuttle bus for day trip visits to Giverny?
As for the air conditioned vehicle, are you asking about arranging a rental car? Have a look at AutoEurope to find an agency with offices near your accommodation, and the type of vehicle you want. Remember that all drivers will need an IDP.
OR are you asking to hire a car and driver who would drive you there, wait while you toured, and then drive you back? You could try Daytrip.com, knowing that this iis the most expensive option that will likely be €500+. Plus tickets to the Gardens, of course.
Thank you for your reply. I was mostly looking for a tour guide/driver. I’ll look into your suggestions. Many thanks!
I have also been researching this for our Giverny visit this summer since we don't want to traipse across Paris to a train station, then shuttle. Everyone says it is easy, but I have ancient knees.....
I have found two options;
1. " My Driver" will pick you up from your hotel in Paris and take you to Giverny. 216 euros each way plus buying admission tickets for the garden.
2 Paris City Visions "Half day trip Giverny Monet's Gardens Excursion at your leisure from Paris." Leaves and returns from a site near the Eiffel Tower. 79 euros for each of you, garden admission is included. Leaves at 8:00 or 2:30 from Paris.
Paris City Vision and Blue Fox Travel both do these. Blue Fox has smaller groups and is thus more expensive.
Another vote for Blue Fox Travel here! I did their half day trip (go in the morning… we got in before anyone else!). This year will try the combo Giverny-Auvers-Sur-Oise (where Van Gogh lived) day trip, also with Blue Fox Travel. They are a highly reliable company!
Thank you all for your help. Happy Trails!
