Is going from Paris to Givency a feasible day trip. If so, what transportation do we need (no car).
We are looking for train and/or bus transportation. How long does it take? Do we need to buy round-trip
tickets? Thank you for your suggestions!
By "Givency" do you mean Giverny (where Monet lived, and where you can tour his house and gardens) or somewhere else?
If you mean Giverny, yes, it's a popular daytrip. Details of how to do it yourself are in Rick's books on France or Paris, or you can take a tour from Paris.
I assume that you mean Monet's house and garden at Giverny (not the chateau of Chantilly that's also day-trip-pable). It's an easy train ride from Paris St. Lazare station to Vernon (on the line toward Rouen), 45 minutes one-way. You can buy tickets at the station, no discount for roundtrip buy you might want to make just the one purchase. A bus or taxi ride covers the last leg from station to Giverny. See any Rick Steves guidebook that cover Paris or http://giverny.org/transpor/ (toward the bottom of the page).
You can take the train from Gare St Lazarre to Vernon ( that is the name of the town near Monets Gardens that the train goes to).. then you take the bus to the Gardens.. the bus is right beside the train station ..
Its an easy trip to do on your own. .
sorry didnt read Lauras post first. .I was still a bit surprised at Harolds reply..
