Day trip from Paris to Moet et Chandon

Looking for advice on making a day trip to Moet et Chandon from Paris. Is it reasonable to plan on taking a mid-morning train to the region, have lunch, tour the facilities and then return to Paris in the same day? I assumed the cellars would be located on a hillside in the Champagne region countryside, but from looking at Google Maps, it looks like it's right in the middle of town so there should be plenty of places to have lunch before a tour. Anything else in particular we should see while we're there? Any other champagne tours that we should contemplate instead? Suggestions or considerations are appreciated.

Be sure to arrange your Champagne house tour in advance; then you can plan your train etc around that. Reims has plenty of restaurants and plenty of places to sample Champagne. Get TGV tickets well in advance for the best rates. The Champagne houses are not in the vineyards but in town and the tours are of the cellars. It is an easy day trip. We did Taittinger so I can't comment on Moet. Be sure to consider visiting Basilica St. Remy and the Cathedral while there and there is an excellent war museum as well.

Moet & Chandon’s house is in Epernay. The basilica, cathedral, and war museum referred to above are in Reims so you would have to take the train or some other transit option to visit Moet in Epernay and get to the sights in Reims. I’d do a champagne tour in Reims such as the Taittinger tour if I wanted to see the cathedral, etc. or a third party tour that covers smaller houses, but that’s me. Epernay does not have as varied sightseeing offerings as Reims IMO.
