Is a day trip from Paris to Burgundy doable? If so, are there any specific recommendations for destinations in Burgundy?
Suggest and all-day wine tasting tour. 7 am TGV to Dijon, tour pick up (van) for a day tour of Burgundy vineyards and tasting, lunch in Beaune, afternoon more touring and tasting. Drop off back in Dijon about 4:30 pm for train back to Paris.
Sorry to be negative, but I wouldn't want to do it. Sounds like a very long day, and i don't see much in "wine tastings" in general, but to each his own,as they say. Is there any way to make it an over night?
Then it would have the advantage of adding to the experience, and seeing another town/city.
I think it's too far. Do a day trip on your own to Reims for tours and tastings at the champagne cellars, plus beautiful cathedral and just as beautiful basilica. Some tours have to be booked in advance. You can also get information at the TI when you arrive and they will help you book available tours on the day as well as sightseeing advice.
I appreciate the responses. I think I'll pass on Burgundy. I was looking for more of a quaint village experience, with maybe a few shops, a nice place to have lunch and maybe (but not necessarily) a notable cathedral/church. I'm not particularly interested in a tour of any type. I would just like a short day trip from Paris, offering a flavor of France different from the big-city life of Paris.
If you're looking for a small town experience, there are lots of options. If janettravels44 doesn't jump into this thread, send her a private message, or search for her name - she's posted lots of times about various daytrips an hour or so from Paris.
