Hardly any problems "Day of Anger" by French rail workers Thursday April 20

The four representative unions of workers at the SNCF (French national rail) on Saturday called for their members to participate in a "day of expression of rail worker anger' on Thursday, April 20.

They are calling this a "day of preparation" for the May 1 demonstrations.

If you plan to travel by train Thursday, keep an eye on SNCF info...

Thanks for the info as we are in Paris now. Luckily we are going to Versailles on Wednesday. Thursday we can walk where we need to go.

Thank you Kim! Do you have any idea whether this will include RATP workers and affect the Metro and suburban lines? Or just rail travel?

So far it is just the national rail workers, as best I can figure. This would affect the RER A and RER B outside of Paris, the other RER lines, but not the metro, buses or trams in Paris.

I agrée with Kim that seems it will effect RER lines but nothing with Metro mentioned as of Monday. SortierAParis says Wednesday at 5:00 pm the four main railway unions which have called the strike should officially announce exactly which lines will be affected by this strike and the extent of rail workers mobilization.
Planning walking activities in Paris on Thursday sounds like a great idea.

You might, you might not. Sorry to be so vague.

Lately the strike have been much less followed by union members, so around 3/4 of trains have run (meaning you usually have other options if your train is one that is cancelled).

UPDATE WEDNESDAY MORNING (GOOD NEWS)

Press is reporting this morning (after the 48-hour strikers' deadline for tomorrow had passed yesterday evening) that in the end, service will be almost normal.

The vast majority (80%) of TGVs will run. Most other services will too, with the biggest exceptions being Intercités.

The RER C (goes between Paris and Versailles) will see some cuts in service.

For an overall look, you can run this through Google Translate:

For specific info, google (SNCF Trafic info) or (transilien trafic info).

Paris métro bus and tram service will NOT be affected.
