Hello. We will be visiting Annecy and Chamonix in June and would like to see a smaller, local cheese maker and perhaps other foodie type places -- definitely smaller, local proprietors. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks!
hey hey Eurotraveler
will you have a car?
we stayed in annecy for 6 nights and loved the area and the lake and the city center around the canals. we did a private taxi tour and wanted to go to this dairy farm.

we had our lunch, under restauration is the menu of the different plates offered. the cheese is only from that area, the restaurant has clear window floors to see the cows down below in their pens, with gorgeous rural "ranch" views.
they have like a "pizza oven" to melt the cheese to put on your bread or potatoes, charcuterie tray and dessert. it was fabulous and so different, we had cash euros with us and treated or driver so don't know about credit cards.
then our tour continued on to col de la forclaz to stop at gift shop (bought two real cowbells for me and sister since mom was a cowgirl growing up on a private ranch on the big island of hawaii), see the cows with their cowbells hanging around necks making music in the hillsides, watching the hanggliders soaring right above you and the lake. small villages along the way, gorgeous mountain peaks then back to our apartment in annecy.
hope this helps and please do enjoy annecy

HI Princess Purple. If we do not plan on renting a car are there reliable taxis/bus/uber, etc...? How can a family of 4 adults get to the old city from a hotel on/near the lake? TIA
Below is a link to a list of producers/farms selling cheese and dairy products around Annecy / Chamonix: (use a translator)

hey hey travelbug
i don't know about ubers, never tried and don't have the app. i use lyft here in bay area.
we did have the taxi number in our phone and called once for a ride to the city center from our appartment on rue de parmelan near an elementary school. there are taxis around. where is your hotel located? it is a walkable city, i had torn my meniscus a month before trip so my friend and i were happy with taxis. i would think you hotel has taxis outside or they can call one for you.
enjoy the town and the city center. any ?'s just ask or send a message
