D-Day tours Normandy

Hello all
We will be on a cruise ship in the port of Le Havre on May 5th. In port for 9 + hours and would like to take a tour of the D-Day area.
Any suggestion of tours and or tour guides. A small group tour or just the 2 is OK.
Thanks for your help.

Michele,

You'll have to pre-book the tour, especially at that time of year. It will likely take 2-3 hours to get from Le Havre to Bayeux, so booking a half day tour might be best. Some of the tours you could try....

The cruise line will probably also be offering tours, but I suspect they will be a bit on the expensive side. You might also check the Trip Advisor ratings for any tours you're planning to take.

Anyone know what RS doent list Overlord Tours in his Normandy guide list? Trip Advisor reviews are great and the website is very informative of what the tours are about.

Overlord is terrific but it is very risky to book a tour that is not part of the cruise for such a distant site -- the stakes of missing the boat are pretty high. I would at least book a tour that runs out of Le Havre and is used to meeting the needs of cruise passengers. When we did the Overlord all day tour they were a bit late getting back which was no problem at all for us but it would have been if we had to drive several hours back to Le Havre for a cruise boat.

We used Dale Booth, but I know Overloard gets consistently great reviews. They probably wouldn't work for OP because they, like other, usually start at 8:30 a.m.and don't return until about 4 p.m. Also, their pick-up point used to be Bayeux.

Thank you all. We will be staying in Bayeaux so cruise ship curfew is not an issue. The private tours are much more expensive but would get one to the boat on time if that were critical; I wish there were a match.com for matching us with another couple - probably unrealistic to match people with diverse interests and schedules.
