I need suggestions/recommendations for a half day tour of D-Day Beaches (with American influence). It would be a party of 4 on July 28th. Thanks!
Try www.ddayhistorian.com. Used them a few years ago but had a day long tour!
We are taking an Overlord Tour (all day) on May 10th this year. Here is there website. I know they have 1/2 day tours also.
I just made arrangements for a half-day tour on June 13 with Jean-Marc Bacon -- www.normandy-landing-tours.com
Overlord would have been my first choice, but I waited too long because we weren't sure if we'd be able to make the trip -- www.overlordtour.com
Normandy Sightseeing Tours -- http://www.normandy-sightseeing-tours.com/ -- also has a half-day tour.
Since Overlord was already booked, I debated between the other two operators above. Normandy Sightseeing gets good reviews and its website seems more professional, but Jean-Marc responded to my inquiry warmly and immediately, while a Google search also yielded plenty of positive comments. It also appears to be extremely convenient. You get off the train, walk 50 yards or so across the street to Hotel de la Gare, and you're there.
There are plenty of other tour operators, but many of them were already booked or were far more expensive, as in 300+ euros in some cases. The three I list above are all in the 60 euros per person range.
leighty,
Overlord Tour is one that offers half-day tours, so I'd try them first. It would be a good idea to get a booking SOON though.
Thanks all, as it turns out we ended up booking with Bertrand @ Executive Tours.
