Customs / Passport Control between EU Countries

After arriving in Paris, I am flying from Paris to Milan. Will I need to worry about delays at customs or passport control upon arrival in Milan? I will next fly to Venice changing in Rome. I assume that inter-Italy is not a problem.

I will depart Europe by flying from Florence to Paris on AirFrance to connect with Delta to Minneapolis. Do you see any delays?

Thank you.

You will go through passport control in Paris before your flight to Milan. You will change terminals and then be funneled into the passport area. You will have customs in Milan but you will likely not even notice it as you will just go thru a door that is green and where everyone else is exiting. If you are flying Delta you will land at 2E and then walk to 2F for your Milan flight.

On the way back home you will go thru Passport control in Paris to exit the Schengen area. When you get to MSP you will go thru both Passport Control and Customs there.

How much time do you have in Paris going and coming back? It took me 1h10 minutes from when the door opened on my Delta aircraft in September to get to the gate for my Milan flight. The flight to Milan was completely full and they started boarding before the time listed on the monitor.

Have you already bought the Milan to Venice ticket? If not, it may be quicker on the train.

I will next fly to Venice changing in Rome.

Is this on same day?

Regardless- it is a 2.5 fast train ride from Milan to Venice, add an hour to get from MXP to Milano Centrale.
The train takes you right to the center of Venice so you'd eliminate the extra travel and expense getting into Venice from the airport and elimiate all that extra time in the airport- security and the possibility of missed connections, etc.

Am I reading it correctly that you are flying from Milan to Venice with a plane change in Rome?

Is that the same day as your arrival from Paris?

If a different day why not take a train, Milan-Venice ~2.5 hrs ~$30... no change. 3-4 hrs faster than flying.

no change. 3-4 hrs faster than flying.

Even if it is the same day, take the train. Malpensa to Milano Centrale to Venice will still be faster than flying via Rome.

Both France and Italy are part of the Schengen Zone - as long as you are flying between these, you will not go through passport control. You will go through passport control when arriving in Paris, and again when leaving Paris and exiting the Schengen Zone.
