I was wondering if there are any new scams in Paris that I should be aware of before visiting next week.
The main thing is don't stop to talk to strangers just say no thanks and keep walking.
Wear your valuables under your clothes in a neck wallet or in a money belt .
Check the section under “Tips & Trip Reports, Tourist Scams” on this Forum to familiarize yourself with the general scams.
Not much is new in the world of scams and tricks. Only new to you.
Any stranger who approaches you should be assumed to be a thief, no matter what ruse they use. If there is anything happening nearby that seems out of the ordinary (a distraction), assume there's a scam associated with it. Wear a money belt or other device. Keep your hands on anything you don't want stolen. Most of all, be keenly aware of what's happening around you AT ALL TIMES.
Do all that, and there's nothing new that will make you a victim.
Thanks everyone- I know sometimes there are particularly odd things, so it helps to know just general safety should suffice.
Overall, be very mindful of a stranger trying to get your attention because they're likely trying to distract you from somebody else stealing your belongings.
but it may be somebody actually trying to help you.
Maybe you have toilet paper stuck to your shoe, or your skirt is tucked in, or you left your wallet on the shelf or just walked away from your jacket, or in my case left my glasses behind.
Just remember that not absolutely everybody you see is out to get you.
you can google up vlogs about tourist scams, it seems to be the same old stuff. Honestly who would buy a "gold ring" from a stranger who just happened to find it on the street?
Keep your important stuff tight against your body.
