Enroute from the Inland Riviera to Lacoste, my wife and I plan to stop for dinner in the south Luberon village of Cucuron. Can anyone recommend a restaurant with seating along the bassin? Reviews for Restaurant de l'Etang and Le Boudoir de Leon in tripadvisor are mixed. Are there better options that still have pool-side seating? Would it be better just to enjoy a pastis overlooking the pool, spend an hour or two walking around, and have dinner in Lacoste instead?
Jim,
I can't help you with Cucuron, but I * can * help you with Cucugnan... ;-)
If you decide to schedule lunch during your planned visit of the Peyrepertuse and Quéribus castles, we had an excellent meal at l' Auberge du Vigneron. We made an advance booking for an early lunch for two reasons: we wanted a table on the terrace and it was going to be on French Mothers' Day (falls on the last Sunday in May).
Hi Diane. I laughed when I read your reply this morning. Last night I added "lunch in Cucugnan at l'Auberge du Vigneron" to the list of activities for the drive from Carcassonne to Cadaques so it was nice to see that you recommend it. Any other suggestions for the area (Albi, Carcassonne, Cadaques)? I'd also love to hear any suggestions you might have for Cathar castles but maybe that discussion should be in a new thread to grab the attention of others.
As for the OT, The restaurant situation in Cucuron seems dodgy. I'm leaning towards exploring for a few hours and just enjoy the bassin with a beverage. Maybe a pastis before walking around the village. We'll wait and have dinner at Cafe De France in Lacoste after checking into our apartment.
