Crypte Archeologique (across from Notre Dame) still open?

Is the Archeology display, across from Notre Dame, still open?

Has it become crowded since the Cathedral is closed? Or can you just walk in like before?

Thanks,

Brad

It is open. When I visited last year I did not notice it being more crowded than on previous visits. When I went they had a virtual reality program right when you go past the ticket booths. I did it but it was so realistic I had to take the glasses off when we were perched on top of the roof as I am scared of heights, lol. Yikes!

It is a City of Paris Museum so it is closed on Mondays. The website indicates there is a special exhibition going on this Fall and they are selling timed entries. I don't think you will need to buy a timed entry for this venue...just walk in as before.

Thanks,

I had heard there was a virtual reality program now, but didn't realize it's part of the Crypte. I wasn't really planning on seeing it, since I've been in Notre Dame at least a half dozen times. It sounds like they did a good job producing it. I'll look forward to seeing it.

It isn't a 'part of the crypts' except it's location is in the underground. YOu need to book tickets for Eternelle Notre Dame separately -- it is terrific.

The virtual reality is has a different entrance than the crypt. And if you’re like me, you’ll probably go to crypt because it’s hard to find the virtual reality entrance.

But I went ahead and did the crypt and there was nobody there. It was great

Personally, the virtual reality for me was a complete and total fiasco. It’s very well done. I have a very bad fear of heights. It was a little too real for me. I just finally started crying and took the thing off and begged them to let me out of there. I’m sure they think I’m a crazy old lady and I am but I was terrified.

Okay,

It's separate and I need to book. I was going to skip it but, since it's recommended, I'll plan on it and book some tickets.

thanks

Does anyone have a link to book tickets? I'm looking but all I'm getting is random ticket vendors - not the official website. Notre Dame's official site doesn't seem to be the place for the VR experience.

It is most fun with friends -- your avatar (a sort of outline you can see when you move around so people don't bump into each other will be labeled with your name so you can identify members of your party. All the outlines with names on them will be your people)
