Crown of Thorns @ Norte Dame

Hi,
We will be visiting Paris and wanted to visit the Crown ofThorns @ Norte Dame on the first Friday of the July. Looking at Norte Dame website, it's from 3 pm to 5 pm, but there are no tickets. Does anyone have any recommendations on how early to arrive to wait in line?

Thanks!

As it is a religious service there are no tickets. I attended the service is early April. I arrived about 20 minutes prior to the service and there were maybe a dozen people already in line.

Thank you. I have a follow up question. If we come early and get in at 1500, it's it an actual service from 1500 to 1700? I thought it's just a line to see the crown of thorns and the veneration starts @ @1700.

Thanks

The actual service starts at 3. You will be seated during the service in a roped off area. When the actual Veneration begins, you are brought up by rows. Some people returned to their seats afterwards. I just continued up the aisle to exit the Cathedral.

Hi,
Thank your again for your responses. Couple of additional questions:

1) Does service last till 5 pm?
2) after seated, I assume they call you row by row to see the thorns? When do they actually actually allow up to see the thorns?

Thanks,

Hi! The ceremony starts at 3:00pm with a processional of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem bringing the Crown to the altar and initial prayers/hymns/readings, which lasts approximately 20 minutes. Afterwards, by sections/rows, they facilitate the queue to walk up to the crown and you can touch, kiss it, etc (yes, it's cleaned between each person), which is open until 5:00pm. During this time, there's additional prayers/hymns/readings happening at the same time. You can stay for this if you'd like, but it's not mandatory. At 5:00pm, the Crown is taken to the reliquary, where it's on display until about 6:00pm.

You're welcome, Nigel! It's a very busy time of year, so I have less time for writing these days...but whenever Notre Dame is mentioned, there's a good chance I'll turn up sooner or later! ;)
