Crazy question about booklet of metro tickets

I have downloaded the bonjour RATP app. From my location in downtown Paris to Puteaux in zone 3 cost 5,35. I was hoping to buy a booklet of tickets(10) and wondered if I could use one ticket to get to La Defense Grande Arche and then another ticket from there to get down to Puteaux? If I use the tickets from a booklets it’s cheaper and be less than 5,35 …..am I thinking that correctly

you can buy a carnet (10) ticket from Paris to Puteaux (the precise station you need there) and with a purchase of ten you get a substantial discount -- at least 20%, maybe 25. I am not sure what you mean by booklet. that is the English translation of carnet but I don't know why you would want to use two tickets. There are no more Paris carnets at a discount. But you can buy carnets at a discount for longer RER trips.

Are you thinking of buying 10 metro tickets and using 1 for the metro ride on Line 1 to the Grand Arch station and then catching the U or L transillien lines to Puteaux and pay for that with a second ticket? That will not work. You will have a t+ ticket and those are not valid for travel on the transillien lines.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be that easy. I guess I can’t use use it on T2 either.
Thanks for your information

I just found an article that says I can use a t+ ticket on transition. This is getting very confusing now.

Can you link the article here? As far as I know a single t+ ticket works on the metro, the RER within the city of Paris, buses except the Orly bus and the RoissyBus, the Montmartre funicular, and certain tram lines. I guess you could take tram (T2) to Puteaux but I don’t think you can use your t+ ticket on the transillien lines.

Zones have nothing to do with tickets (single ride) other than a zone 1, RER limitation when using a ticket t+. Otherwise there is no limitation on the ticket t+ which may be used on any bus (other than airport buses), funicular, métro or tramway. The t+ is not valid on Transilien trains nor on the RER outside the city limits of Paris (zone 1).

Zones only apply to passes (multiple ride). RER/Transilien tickets are currently all 5€ or less and are sold point to point. You could purchase a booklet of 10 at a reduced price, if they were all to the same location.

To reach Puteaux from any point in Paris:

  1. Connect to métro 1 to la Défense and walk the remaining distance - 2.15€/1 ticket t+

  2. Using any bus going to Suzanne Lenglen, connect to T2 - 2.15€/1 ticket t+

  3. Using any métro connection to St Denis, connect to Transilien L - 3.20€/1 point to point ticket.

If you need a zone 1-3 day pass, the cost is 11.60€, I am not sure how the 5.35€ you posted applies to your itinerary.

And as noted, if this is a frequent commute i.e. he is staying there to visit Paris then he can buy a carnet of Paris Puteux tickets at a discount.
