I know there is a covid test required pre-departure from the US into France but are they also doing mandatory swabbing upon arrival at the airports in France? I thought I read that this was a recent change, along with the need of a booster for the health pass.
No, in the form that you sign/swear, you agree that you will allow them to test you upon arrival — however, I have not heard of them actually testing any flights arriving from the U.S.
Kim is correct, but I am familiar with a couple of cases when a passenger was asked to take an Antigen test upon arrival. It is not a recent change, but it is rare that anyone is actually asked to submit to testing upon arrival.
Wonderful, thanks for the information!
Tocard, were the cases you are familiar with just random picks from arrivals or did they have some kind of symptoms? Can you expand on this a bit?
One case was a US passenger who had transited through LHR recently when flights were otherwise closed for travel from the UK to France for those without EU passports. Transiting passengers were not subject to the ban, but French immigration decided to test the passenger for whatever reason.
I have no understanding why French immigration would do this as the passenger had been tested before boarding at his originating airport. However, French authorities can, and sometimes do test arriving passengers.
Thank you for the extra information, Tocard.
