Covid Testing Reentry to USA

This is awesome! I haven't been on the Rick Steve's blog in weeks, but I wanted to pop in before my work day today. The testing requirement was my last smidge of stress about our trip, we leave in 31 days!

Keep in mind that while CNN is "reliable" it's not yet offical.

The Washington Post is reporting this as well.

It is official, I just heard a White House official make the announcement on CNBC.

Without getting political, in my opinion, the likelihood that the requirement will later be re-instated is very low indeed.

Reinstatement will certainly not until after November.

Feel the need to caution everyone to still be careful out there. My family just went on vacation for a few days, and upon return, four families and their children came down with Covid. Still a smart idea to wear those masks in crowded situations. Nobody wants to be sick. Their symptoms range depending on the person from mild to total misery. Travel safe!

I will still mask and have continued to wear one even though not required. I am just relieved I don’t have to schedule or find a test on the last day of tour

This is fantastic news. I paid $90 for 2 Binax proctored tests and now I can leave the (ridiculously oversized) boxes out of my luggage. I only travel with carry-on so that is a blessing. Many seem to have worried about finding a testing location, My fear was being asymptomatic but testing positive and having to scramble to make arrangements for another 10 days in Paris. Big cloud of uncertainty over my trip lifted. I'll still mask up in the metro, museums and anywhere crowded because Covid is still very much with us and I want to take all reasonable precautions to prevent Covid from ruining my vacation.
