Covid Self Tests

Are self-tests readily available in France (and Germany - to avoid crosspost)? Don't want to pack some if we don't have to.

In Paris, in particular, I've easily purchased them in one of the many pharmacies in the neighborhood of the hotel. I was offered a pack of 1 or 5...I took the 5, lol.

BTW, the tests were slightly different from the ones I had used so I went to Youtube, put in the name of the test and bingo...there were the instructions.

Just got back from BOE 14 days and I only packed 2 tests. 9 people from my group ended up going home +covid, and I ended up buying tests in several cities. They are readily available in pharmacies, which are also everywhere. A few pharmacies had them sitting out, but at most I had to ask the pharmacist. They were usually about 5 euros per box (1 test). So yes, readily available everywhere, I had zero difficulty finding them (or using them, they were the same as ours here in the US).

While over the counter tests may be available, my suggestion is to bing one proctored test kit (like emed Binax ) in case you do get a positive with an over the counter test . This saves you from trying to find a pharmacy that will give you an official test for travel Insurance claims.

Several forum members that have been kind enough to share their experiences have commented that they wish they had brought a proctored test kit.
