Country lodging in Provence

Hello, I'm doing some preliminary research on a trip to Provence in the spring. I was thinking of instead of staying in one of the larger recommended cities, staying out in the country somewhat for a little bit more of a low-key relaxing trip. We can day trip in to all the various sites and maybe even would spend a day just hanging out at the place we stay.

The question is does anybody have any recommendations for lodging out in the countryside? We prefer slightly higher end accommodations l, and usually go with Rick's more expensive recommendations. We know there were quite a few of these types of places in Burgundy so I'm sure there's some down in this region.

Thank you

Chris

I don't know what part of Provence you want to explore. But some years ago we stayed at a very charming b&b near Lagnes called Sous l'Olivier. It has several ensuite rooms in what was an old stone farm house. Each room is different. The breakfasts were truly excellent and the owners were friendly and helpful.. But it is not air conditioned, which wasn't an issue for us when we were there in early spring. However if you are looking for a fully modern and high end hotel, this isn't that.

I don't have any personal recommendations but there are many upscale resorts and spa style rentals around St Remy which is a very charming little town and centrally located for exploring Provence and the Luberon.
If you're looking to rent a whole place check into gites rental sites.

Needless to say you will need a car for any of these rentals but a car is really key to exploring Provence anyway.

Have a great trip,
