We would like to do a 1/2 day or full day wine tour in the Cotes du Rhône wine region. Any suggestions for a guide?
While I haven't used this tour guide, I did correspond with him at one point. He's clearly very knowledgeable. http://www.rhonewinetours.com/
We used le vin a la bouche. It was a private wine tour of Chateauneuf du Pape. We did this about 7 years ago. It was informative and we had wines opened for us breathing in the cellars if at least one winery. Highly recommended.
I have stayed with Philip and Jude twice. Taken their three day tour. Loved every minute of it. https://www.rhonewineholidays.com. So much, in fact, that we're going to stay with them again this summer without the tour.
You get to meet the vignerons (winemakers) and walk the fields. You will know a lot about terroir after a stay there. They spoiled me. While I live in California, I drink Rhone wines almost exclusively.
We spent a day in September 2011 with Oliver Hickman of wine-uncovered.com. He picked us up, we toured 4 different wineries, had a great lunch at a restaurant in the hills we would have never found ourselves and all in English. All 4 of us (parents and two adult children) said it was the best 800 euros we spent on the trip. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
We used Provence Panorama for two tours in 2014 - neither of which was exclusively focused on wine. With that said, we loved the company and would definitely use them again. They do offer wine tours.
