I have a 10 day trip to France in May, half of which I’m planning to spend in Provence, and I’m trying to figure out where to go for the rest of the time (I’ll have a car). I’m considering the Côte d’Azur, but am not sure it’s what I’m looking for. Are there enough things to do/see outside of Nice/Cannes/Monaco? I’m interested in beautiful scenery, quaint towns, and just driving around. I don’t drink, so wineries aren’t my thing. Any suggestions for a four day itinerary? Thanks in advance!
Definitely.
There's a lot more to the region than the famous cities. You have some beautiful towns, Eze, St. Paul de Vence, Menton, Antibes, etc. I took the train from Nice up to Tende in the Maritime Alps on the "Train of Marvels." That has beautiful scenery and spooky small mountain towns that are relatively isolated from the mass tourism in other parts of the region. Just do your research, there's a ton to see.
