Cote d'Argent beaches and towns

We will be traveling to Bordeaux in June and thought we would spend a couple days at a beach town on the Cote d'Argent. I haven't been able to find much information on this area. Any recommendations on beaches or quaint towns? Any comments on Cap Ferret (not to be confused with Cap Ferrat). Thanks!

The town of Arcachon is lovely and worth a visit. From there (always presuming you will have a car) the Dune du Pilat is astonishing and if you stagger your way to the top you can see Spain. Maybe I'll do that next time.

I haven't been able to find much information on this area.

You probably will find helpful a guidebook that focuses on this area, the Michelin green guide series covers it in its French Atlantic Coast guidebook.

It will give more information than we can provide here.

If you want to spend just a few days Arcachon (eating oysters) is a good option to my opinion too and certainly a walk to the top of nearby Dune du Pilat is fun to do. However doubt if you really can see Spain from there.

The region south of Arcachon has a huge pinewood forest for industrial use and I found it a bit boring, when I spend my holidays there in the late 80´s. Think it hassen´t changed much. But the Médoc region with it´s famous vinyards north of the Bay of Arcachon is more attractive. You need a car for moving around and for visiting a vinyard you need for some, especially the most exclusive, to arrange the visit. Some like Château Margaux still make their own wine barrels. Pauillac is worth a stop just for a drink.

It´s hard to say if other places are attractive as most are turned into coast/beach resorts with loads of holiday homes, but still some with nice spots I guess.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Yes we will have a car. I have found some guide books more specific to the region rather than the whole of France. Cheers
