Cost of metro tickets and Passe Navigo to go up in Paris as of January 1

The administrative council of the region Ile de France (Paris area) voted today to confirm new, higher metro/RER ticket prices that will take effect as of January 1, 2023.

You can see a chart in Le Parisien of the old and new prices at this link (scroll down the story to get to the chart):
https://www.leparisien.fr/info-paris-ile-de-france-oise/transports/le-passe-navigo-mensuel-contenu-a-8410-euros-une-reponse-ponctuelle-et-partielle-selon-valerie-pecresse-06-12-2022-5NZV5LMNXVEJVI4XNTHC6X7E74.php

The highest increase is for the weekly Navigo pass - its price will increase 31.6%. Single tickets will go up 10.5%, and a carnet loaded onto a Navigo Easy card will go up 13.4%. Prices for Roissybus, Orlybus, and Orlyval will go up 18%. (My monthly card will increase in cost by 11.8%.)

Here are some of the key changes:
Regular ticket: old price 1.90€, new price €2.10

Carnet purchased/loaded on a Navigo Easy: old price €16.90, new price €19.10

Weekly passe Navigo : old price €22.80, new price €30

I haven't seen any indication that the cost of the Navigo Easy card itself (2€) or the Navigo card for the decouverte passes (€5) will go up, but will add that if I see it.

I read earlier today, no longer have the specific reference, that the card prices remain unchanged.

While the 5€ price for the RER remains as is, I believe that several point to point prices could increase, such as those to/from the airports. This means the 10.30€ ticket to/from CDG might increase.

If you still have a Navigo Easy card lying around and have an NFC-compatible phone, if you are planning a trip to Paris next year you should be able to load tickets on the Navigo Easy beforehand, at the old price, before 31 Dec, using the Bonjour RATP App. The increase is marginal in the context of a trip, but well, this is an easy way to save a few euros (it takes less than 2 minutes to complete the operation).

Great thinking, Balso!

And yes that is a good point Tocard. I think the origin-destination tickets (such as RER between CDG and Paris proper) will go up 11.8%, if I am reading the chart correctly.

too good to be true, meet the real world. the weekly pass was the biggest travel bargain in the world. new prices still good but less amazing.

The price increases would have been higher but for a big contribution to the regional authority from the national government.

I hope it’s OK to ask my question here instead of starting a new thread, but there are so many France experts currently on it, so… the RATP websites say that you can buy the Navigo Easy at any metro station, but is that really accurate? I’ve had bad luck in the past with being told you could buy it at any,,”except this one.” Our closest metro station is St. Augustin. Do you think they’ll have the Navigo Easy there or should I plan a jaunt up to Gare St. Lazare?

Last trip to Paris was 4 years ago, so my memory is very rusty.

Darn it, but good to know. Thanks Kim.

Patty, my last time in Paris (this past November) was 4 days over a weekend so my Navigo D was not going to be useful.
I bought a Navigo Easy from the closest Metro stop to my lodging.
Any staffed station will be able to provide you with one and most are staffed almost all day.
I wouldn't try for one on a late Sunday night but you should be fine any other time. If the station isn't staffed during a regular time maybe you could walk to the next closest one.

Thanks for the tip about “staffed” stations. I’ll Google the station name and see if I can figure out if it’s staffed. I’ve forgotten a lot in 4 years and can’t remember anything about that particular station.

All métro stations are staffed, and remain so during the network's hours of operation.

Tocard, thanks so much for that.
