We are 5 adults travelling together to Corsica for our first time during the last 2 weeks of September 2025. I would like your thoughts on basing ourselves in 2 or 3 areas. Generally when we travel we like to enjoy a minimum of 3 nights in each area as much as possible. We are renting a car or small SUV which is probably required for 5 adults and luggage (1 carry on and daypack per person). We are travellers who do not want to fill our days seeing different sights but want to spend time enjoying the area we are in at a moderate to even slow pace at times. In our past travels, we always enjoy the experiences shared with our fellow travellers. We are hoping to snorkel 2-3 times, kayak in calm waters 1-2 times, walk and swim some lovely beaches, find small pools within rivers or waterfalls to have a quick dip, drink wine on terraces with amazing views, small quiet cafes to linger and people watch, explore villages as we weave in and out of narrow alleyways, enjoy evenings on our hotel or site balcony with wine and food and talk about the day. We typically do some cycling but we prefer designated cycling trails over narrow curvy roads so we may leave that for Provence and Burgundy which is where we will go after Corsica.
My plan is to fly into Figari and spend time in the Bonifacio area to snorkel the Iles Lavezzi and Plage de petite Sperone. i think we will also check out some of the snorkelling or kayaking in the Porto Vechio area. We might drive the Route de Bavella.
The other areas of interest to us are Golf de Valinco, Golfe de Porto (Calanches de Piana, Reserve de Scandola, Calvi (u Trinichelli train and day trip to Pigna, Sant Antonino), L'lle Rouse (walk to Ice de Pietra to snorkel, Saint Florent (Place de Saleccia and/or Place du Lotu). We would then fly back to Marseille from Calvi.
Having said all this, what 2 or 3 areas would you suggest we base ourselves in and where to fly into and out of.. Because we have 9-10 nights, we want to see some of both the South and North and West Coast. WE typically enjoy the coastline travel of any place we travel (all of us live in the prairies in western Canada so the ocean is like a magnet for us!)
Thank you so much for your input!
