Cooking class in Vaison la Romaine

We took the cooking class recommended in Rick Steves' guide in Vaison-la-Romaine, with teacher Barbara Schuerenberg, in September 2016. Barbara had us pick figs from her tree, herbs from her garden, and create a beautiful Provencal meal in the lovely atmosphere of her home in Vaison. She went far above and beyond the role of teacher de cuisine when we had a minor emergency, and came and helped us as a translator when we were unable to speak French to explain what happened to us in a traffic accident. I cannot recommend Barbara or her class highly enough!

Janet,

Thanks for posting this!
I'm curious, what did you learn to cook?
Was it delicious?

We made a melon Glace (cold soup), tapenade that was used to make tomato puffs (puff pastry), poulet Provencal ( chicken with a sauce made of vermouth, garlic, tomatoes, paprika and freshly chopped herbs de Provence), and for dessert, fresh fig tart. It was lovely and served with a beautiful rose to boot.

Janet,

That sounds delicious! Thanks!
My daughter & I spent a few days in Provence in June, but we didn't make it to Vaison la Romaine, so I will have to add it to my bucket list!
