Planning to stay just off Rue Montorgueill near Etienne Marcel metro station. It looks as though we would want to walk around/through the Forum les Halles to get to quite a few places. Does anyone have recent info re the construction in that area? Are we going to encounter a giant building site?! Thanks.

I was there last May and the construction area was well contained within fences, and a lot of progress had been made since I was there 18 months prior. I did not find that the construction interferred with getting around the area at all, and it was easy access the Metro without using Les Halles station. You should be fine.

Google Maps street view from May 2015 shows it fenced off with the ability to walk around it. It also shows an archway entrance to the Metro/RER with folks walking in and out. And the recent arial/satellite view shows the new roof and not the dirt field/pathways that were there in 2015.

Wow - thanks so much for the info and the speed of your responses. We won't have a car so it sounds as though we will not be too inconvenienced.
