Confusing instructions on printing rail etickets

This from the Rick Steve's tips:

• There may be multiple e-ticket confirmation codes for your itinerary. If you have a roundtrip ticket, issue both the outbound and return trip at the same time. If you have multiple trips within France for which you need to retrieve print at the station train tickets, we strongly recommend you print them during one session at the kiosk as all print at the station e-tickets for travel in France need to be issued from the departure station in France.

I have two separate trips: Gare du Lyon to Avignon TGV, and Avignon TGV to Paris CDG. The crux of my question: Should I be printing both tickets at the same time in Gare du Lyon? I would actually prefer to do this.

My confusion comes from the fact that Gare du Lyon is the departure station for a one way booking, and Avignon TGV is the departure station for the return to CDG, also a one way booking.

You can print both tickets at Gare de Lyon or print the ticket to Avignon there and then print your return ticket in Avignon. You can print the tickets yourself at the appropriate machines or you can go to a staffed counter. For me, I print all my tickets at once and hold on to them. My husband and daughter prefer to print one ticket at a time so they do not have to worry about losing a ticket.

I would just stand at the machine and enter all your codes successively until all tickets are printed. You will have to hang onto them, but that may save you time later, instead of waiting in line at another station. (For people taking an international train, this can also be especially important, to retrieve the tickets from the country that sold them.)
