Confused about pricing and passes for transport within Paris.

I’ve been reading about the different tickets and passes for Paris Metro, Buses and RER.
It appears there are changes as of Jan 1, 2025.
It seems there’s a flat charge of E13 from CDG onto Paris which is all I need for arrival day as I’m only staying one night to begin my trip.

Two weeks later I plan a four day stay in Paris.
What would be the best pass to buy for those, including the RER returning to CDG on the fifth morning?
Not sure yet which days of the week.
I’ve still got my Navigo Decouverte weekly Mon-Sun. pass card pfrom 2017….is it still possible to reload that, or are those now defunct?
It was so handy and paid for itself really quickly.
If anyone knows how to simplify all the new types of passes please let me know!
Thank you.

The ND is good for 10 years so your card is good and can be loaded with a weekly pass. There really is no other pass worth getting (perhaps a day pass for 12 Euro if you will do a lot of travel on one day)

If your 4 days are not within one mon-sun week then get a Navigo Easy and put metro tickets on it -- those tickets are now 2.50 each and will take you anywhere in the Ile de France except the airports. They replace the old RER point to point tickets as well as metro tickets -- the t+ tickets and the carnet discounts are no more.

You could get the NE at the airport on arrival and get two airport tickets loaded on it for 13 each; no other tickets can be on the NE when it is used for the airport. Then when you return to Paris you can load it with MTR i.e. metro/train tickets.

Thanks Jane.

So, if I understand this correctly, if I'm back in Paris for my four day stay before a Thursday, I can reload my old ND pass for seven days and that will still (as it used to) , with the new regulations, enable me to use it to travel on the RER B back to CDG to fly home...or are all airport tickets charged separately now?

Thanks!

Thanks!
That’s clear now.
I wish my city had varying passes like Europe does for urban transport.
We have one.

Remember that the Navigo Semaine is not a seven-day pass in the sense that many city transport systems provide.

It is good from Monday through Sunday. If you buy it on a Thursday, it will be good from that day through Sunday -- but won't be any good on Monday.

Please tell us which days of the week you will be in Paris so we can help.

I’m going to Paris for the first time in April and found this YouTube video that really explains all the changes. It may be more info than you need, however it was very helpful to me.

Thanks Kathy H, I started watching your link and saved it to watch later with my husband. It seems very complete and explains the changes that took effect this year.

Yes, I’m aware of the Monday morning to Sunday evening spread for use of the weekly Navigo, thanks.
I still have my ND pass that I used in 2017, that I can apparently reload.
I just searched in my cupboards for it….I still look the same in the photo! ;)
On that trip I made sure to arrive on a Monday , and plan to do the same on this upcoming trip……or at least arrive by a Wednesday.
That pass pays for itself within four days…..so useful!
Thanks for the wonderful YouTube link….it really explains things very well.
I also found this video:

I haven’t booked anything at all yet……setting up alerts for airfares for September to start with!
Thanks all, for all the help. :)

SJ,

I've found this website enormously helpful in planning transportation in Paris - https://parisbytrain.com/ . Hopefully it will be of some help in planning your trips.

That’s a good website too, thanks Ken.

However, on arrival at CDG, I only need one RER E13 ticket to Gare du Nord, as I will stay near there on my first night, as I’m taking a train East the next day.
I won’t take any other trips except that one.

It appears you HAVE to buy a Navigo Easy E2 card, then load the E13 ticket onto that, effectively then costing E15…..unless I’ve missed something?
It says no paper tickets.
I don’t have an Apple phone or watch.

I have no use for a N. Easy card, as when I return after a couple of weeks I’ll reload my N. Decouverte/Semaine card for that stay in Paris.
Enlighten me please!
I know it’s only two euro, but I can’t be the only person wanting only a one way ticket from the airport!

Thanks.
