Confused about Pass Sanitaire and ToutAntiCovid

We were in Paris at the end of our Alpine trip in September. It worked out perfect, as we had to be tested to come back to the US. We had already downloaded the ToutAntiCovid app and after our pharmacy test the QR code loaded right onto the app and we were able to use anywhere for those last three days.

Some of my family are taking a France tour in Fall. I was explaining they should get the ToutAntiCovid app and they kept saying they didn’t need the app, their tour manager is just having them fill out paperwork to get a QR code. Wha? Am I confused? Can you get the Pass Sanitaire without the ToutAntiCovid app?

I received the Pass Sanitaire for 2 day trips I took to France from Switzerland last month and was able to print the QR code out from the email that was sent to me. So, no need for the app.

Certainly, you can just use your QR code without uploading it to the TousAntiCovid app.

I don't use the app at all, I just show the print-out of my QR code, and the person at the entry scans that.

Great question. From the information I have received, it is recommended to have the app, but not required. I myself have downloaded it just for ease in case I somehow lose my printed QR Code.
