Conflicting accounts of November weather in Nice...

Hello,
I've read that it's rainy and miserable a lot of the time, and I've also read that it's not rainy, but mildly warm and sunny in the afternoons and cool in the mornings and evenings. I'm interested in hearing from as many travelers as possible who have spent at least a week or more in Nice (or the surrounding coast area) in November so I can have a better idea of what to expect. I'm looking for a place on the Côte d'Azur for the month to do a lot of writing and walking.

Thanks a lot!

Mostly sunny, in the 50/60, but you can get a stretch of bad weather. As the French weather/climate report on France 2TV explained last night, we're seeing an increase in precipitation with every degree increase in temperature. Meanwhile, some other areas are dry.

Well, "conflicting" would be a good word to describe Nice weather at that time of the year.
You can have beach weather (esp at the beginning of the month), and you can have epic downpours (especially towards the latter half of the month). The good news is that the rainy spells do not last very long (although I did have rain for ~60 hours straight in early Dec once, with landslides in the hinterland and all), and might not happen at all.

You can go to the website timeanddate.com and take a look at the actual, historical, day-by-day weather data provided there. I like to check the most recent five years' statistics for the month I'm planning to travel, because weather varies a lot.

Use the pull-down box at the right, just above the graph, to check other time periods. At a glance, I'd say November 2023 was better than November 2022.

You can also consult the climate-summary chart included in the Wikipedia entry for the city.

I find the monthly averages for precipitation and hours of sunshine useful. November is the rainiest month of the year (5.45" is quite a lot of rain) and the least sunny after December--but southern France at its worst is sunnier than a lot of other places. It might be useful to check the Wikipedia climate chart for your nearest large city, so you can compare to what you're used to.

I look up the historical weather data for each city for last 5 years for my months of travel. Then the local weather fir the week or so before packing and again before leaving.
Autumn anywhere may be a mixed bag requiring layers and rain gear.

I'll tell exactly what the weather in Nice in November 2024 is - on the 1st of December 2024.

Weather is simply not long term predictable. I can tell you what I experienced in the past but that's not really worth much. Be prepared for wind, rain, sun, cold and mild to warm. Layers is what you want.

It is always sunny in November, except when there are clouds, the weather is generally dry when it is not raining. Temperatures are mild, with some cool periods, especially when it is not hot.

Yeah, no one knows. If you go to a few sites that track historical weather, they indicates temps mostly in the 50's F and cool nights Not too rainy, maybe 5-10 days, some 4 inches or so over the month.

Those are averages, and what is true about averages is that the actual is hardly ever average, in fact less than half the time.

You get the theme... however, if you stay a month, you will likely both experience rainy days and sunny days. On days with rain, though, often the full day is not rainy, unless there is a major storm. And as mentioned, chances increase as the month goes on.... but I've had lunch on the beach in late November

Thanks very much to everyone who responded! It definitely sounds like it's a little bit of everything and so still worth going.
