Confirming - 48 hours..

Know this has been discussed many times - but obviously - I wasn’t paying attention!

If - in October of 2023 - the US is still requiring Covid tests - before we return from France - is there a 48 hour window - to accomplish this in - and if we have a test done on a Saturday morning - are the results immediate - as pharmacies are closed - in Paris - on Sunday. Our morning flight - out of Orly - would be scheduled for Monday morning …

Thanks!

There is no way to know what the rules will be in October 2023-- or October 2022 for that matter. Currently the rule is that you must have a negative test no more than one day before your flight home to re-enter the US.

Having said that, I carry the BINAX proctored tests with me. They are accepted as proof by the US. That way, if I might have trouble finding a testing site, as long as I have wifi, I can get it done.

Wonderful idea!

Is there a shelf life on this product?

They are sold out on Amazon - looking forward - if I am able to purchase them for us and put them in a suitcase - will they expire?
Travel plans can make one a little insane!

Thank you!

I believe the test window is the day before your flight, not 24 hours. Anytime on the day before. So it will be a rapid test. Check the government or the airline website for the requirements to return to the US.

Carrie is correct, and they DO have an expiration date which is checked by the proctor when you sign in online for the test. You don't want to buy them too early.

There will be pharmacies open in Paris on Sundays. I think the procedure is for every pharmacy to have a sign on its door or in its window advising of the location of a (relatively) nearby pharmacy that is open that day.

The test window is NOT 48 hours -- it is ONE DAY --- it is okay to do it anytime on Monday for a Tuesday flight i.e. not '24 hours' exactly but it has to be done the day before or the day of not two days before. That is the rule now -- of course by October, who knows. We are kind of hoping they drop it in May since it is a PITA but that is the rule right now.
