Conference in Courbevoie & want the Paris experience!

My husband and I are looking for suggestions on hotels that might be close to Courbevoie area as I'm attending a conference. We would prefer to stay in Paris and experience staying in the city.

I'm wondering if there is a neighborhood in Paris that we could enjoy Paris with a short commute to Courbevoie.

I really am hoping for a picturesque stay in Paris rather than a suburb and welcome all of your suggestions!

Courbevoie is only 5 miles on the Metro Line to the Center of Paris. If you can write off your Hotel expenses it might be convenient to stay near your conference and just run into Paris for Dinner. Or you could look for a Pied a Terre Apt or B & B in Paris and go the other way in the busy morning commute. Demand makes Paris expensive.

XO Hotel Paris looks nice in the 17th. Kind of a nice middle ground; residential, shops, restaurants but not too far to go back and forth to Courbevoie.

There are excellent Accor hotels in La Défense that I love. Hotel Nest by MGallery is fantastic and right near the metro. As is the Pullman.

What transit line is closest to the location of the conference in Courbevoie? And how long are you willing to commute each day?

I suspect your conference is in La Défense or adjacent to it, in which case anywhere along metro line 1 would be good.

To stay close to the La Défense area, I would suggest Les Sablons in Neuilly. Not technically Paris, but feels like it, and there are a few hotels in that area. 2 stops further into Paris (Argentine), rue des Acacias is also really pleasant, with good restaurants all over.
I would skip over the Champs Elysées area, and consider Tuileries / Palais Royal if you want to be more central in Paris, but your commute to La Défense will reach 30 minutes, and it is crowded in the morning.

If your conference is elsewhere in Courbevoie, near the train stations on line L (Courbevoie or Bécon-les-Bruyères), then the safest bet is to be close to Gare Saint Lazare. Note that line L has a confusing service pattern: there is also a train station at Pont Cardinet, a nice area, BUT the trains that stop at Pont Cardinet do not serve Courbevoie (they serve Bécon, though).

I second the suggestion of the area around the Argentine station if your conference is near Line 1. That is the area I planned to suggest. If you are willing to have a 40 minute commute on Line 1, the area around Saint Paul metro might be to your liking. If your conference is near the La Defense stop on the RERA, you could consider taking the RER A (note there will be a fare differential from the metro fare), and staying near Auber. That trip is about 15 minutes on the train and while the area around Auber may not be what first pops up when thinking of a picturesque part of Paris, there are nice, picturesque areas within a 10 minute walk of the station.

I lived at Argentine and found the area rather dead. There was a few good restaurants, like Le Touring and nearby the very expensive Le Jardin des Presbourg whose brunch is legendary. But it is quite close to Place de l'Étoile.

It's dead right on Grande Armée and in the 16th, but it gets livelier the further down rue des Acacias you go.
