After our RS to Italy we will spend a few days in Paris. Is it customary to tip for the concierge services at hotels or are the typical services (calling for reservations, ordering taxis) included in the room rate? If tipping is advised, what is the rate?
Thanks DJD
I have never tipped for concierge services, at home in The The Land Of Tipping, or anywhere in the world. I tend to tip pretty freely (and sometimes excessively) but I would be shocked if a tip was expected for any concierge services. Maybe I'm missing an opportunity to part with yet more money?
The next time I stay at a hotel with concierge services I will figure it out. My normal standard is - routine service, no tip. Exceptional service, of course.
Tipping is not customary in Paris. The people working see providing the best customer service as part of job duties and good for staying in business. Disseminating good reviews are more valuable so just that.
