Concergerie

Has anyone visited the Concergerie?

The first floor retains its medieval features - dovetails nicely with Sainte Chappelle and the Lovure.

Palaces, Marie Antoniette and Revolutions and such.

i have read a few reviews. Don't think it will deter me from visiting the site.

Thanks!

It is so quick to visit that it falls in the "why not" category while in the area.
Unsure about current access restrictions due to the ongoing terrorisme trials at the Palais de Justice next door - bookings might be required for the time being!

We went to the Conciergerie several years ago and found it interesting and worthwhile. I don't know any reason not to visit if you have time. It's easily combined with the Ste-Chappelle, Notre Dame (what you can see), the archeological crypt (if open), and a Seine cruise from the Pont Neuf.

They occasionally have special exhibitions in there so those are interesting if offered during your visit. I agree it's quick and easy to see. Bathrooms are slightly hidden but it's a good place for a comfort stop if you are going in anyway.

We have. It was included on our Paris Museum Pass, and we were happy that we'd taken the time; it's a very old lady with a long and interesting history. Do some reading up on it before your visit...although it sounds as if you already have? :O)

This is noted in the guide booklet mentioned below; look for the bias relief of Héloïse and Abélard on a central pillar in the Hall of the Guards. She is holding.... well, um, look them up and it'll make sense. 😳

If you've not found it yet, you can download a guide booklet in English from this site:
