company that claims to take you home if you test positive

Just encountered this online. https://covacglobal.com/faqs/. Sounds too good to be true and I am sure if they take you home it will cost big $ even if you purchase their insurance, but wanted to post this to see if anyone has used them and to see what others think.

I am a bit perplexed by this post. The cost of the insurance and what it covers is clearly stated in the website that the OP references. Why is it that the OP "is sure if they take you home it will cost big $ even if you purchase their insurance?"

This makes no sense. The insurance is not cheap ($1000), but there is absolutely no reason to think that it would not cover what they promise to cover. For some individuals, this insurance would make them feel better if they absolutely can't risk being quarantined in another country due to a positive covid test.

I will admit, that if you absolutely can't risk being quarantined in another country, then the best choice is probably not to travel at all.

how can they take you home (presumably to USA) if only negative tests are permitted entry?

Nigel, there are exemptions from the negative test required for entry for medical evacuation flights that have the patient going from hospital to hospital. I am assuming that this company has determined a method that works for them or they would not be offering the product.

COVAC GLOBAL is a legit company. You can buy a COVAC GLOBAL membership with evacuation. This product can be sold to Americans and to any international country except France, I believe. They transfer an ill person home through all logistics of ambulances, air ambulances, aviation, and ground logistics. I think you can buy this coverage up to 14 days before you depart --- and even less with a negative PCR test. They do have many restrictions. For example, any traveler on a cruise over 25 cabins is not eligible for Covac Global.

If you have not reviewed Medjet recently, they changed their covid transport rules effective 7/12/21, but it is restrictive instead of no covid transport.

Edit: there is a concurrent post about MASA evac insurance stating it's covid limitations. The restrictions appear to be the same as Medjet, but I haven't read through both policies.

The travel insurance I use from Redpoint has this appproach:

Redpoint maintains a global network of rotary and fixed wing air providers to provide best-in-class air ambulance services. Our providers have already transported COVID-19 cases back to the United States from destinations including Europe, Asia, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Redpoint continues: While transport of the COVID-19 positive patient is possible, the overall health of our travelers always takes priority. Restrictions to being eligible for transport include many factors and considerations, some of which are as follows:

  1. Due to governmental restrictions related to COVID , cross border movement is limited. Often the best immediate care will be within regional centers of excellence 2.Height/weight restrictions due to the transport isolation units may apply 3.Decisions regarding transport will be made by Redpoint after consultation with the local treating physician and our medical team
