I know -- ALL food in Paris is comforting. I'm traveling with a friend next week who has never been, and she wants to have some of the wonderful roast chicken and gratin dauphinois (which the place I know for these has changed owners and now doesn't get good reviews). She's thinking a restaurant for the chicken rather than from a traiteur. Can anyone recommend a place with both, or at least one of these? I know it's easier to find the chicken, but it seems like the potatoes are harder to find.
Thanks!
Shelly, as for the chicken, and more so the potato dish, that's a pretty specific request and I'm not sure how many people here will be able to help with that-I certainly can't.
However, I will say that when I think of comfort food in Paris, two places come to mind: Les Cocottes in the 7th and a la Biche au Bois in the 12th. You might like to check these out as options.
Good luck, and happy food hunting!
