I am hoping a fellow traveler can help me with a train route from Colmar to the Nice area. I have looked at train routes and it appears I would end up with a route through Marseille and along the coast to Nice which I have taken twice. Without a lot of changes... Is there any another route maybe somehow entering Italy .. Toulon and then to the coast of France. I have two days to reach the coast with a stop halfway. My first destination is Lucerne Switzerland and on to Colmar. Thank you for any help regarding this part of my trip.

The train line you want does not exist.
The route through Marseilles is by far the shortest and easiest. You can do it in 8 hours with 2 changes, or longer with 1.
Heading though the Alps, into Italy, and back across the border to France would take you 3 hours longer and entail 5 or more changes, which you say you do not want.
