Colmar to Freiburg by Bus??

Hi Everyone,

I will being staying in Colmar late November. I want to take a day-trip to Freiburg im Breaisau by bus.

I have read online via old fourm posts that this was possible. I want to be 100% certain that this is possible now.

My usual aid, Rome2rio, is not helpful here.

Has anyone done this route before via bus, or know someone who has?

Thanks in advance

Did it in 2014. Very easy. I took a bus from Colmar to Breisach (Germany) and then a local train from there into Freiburg. But they set it up so you can do the bus/train all on one ticket (even between two countries) and the layover is optimally timed so you make the connection in Breisach, which is a tiny station. I think I bought ticket at the bus station in Colmar, don't quite remember.

This is in German (use a web browser like Google Chrome to translate the first page) but explains it and has the timetables:

I didn't do it as a day trip, though - I did it one way and spent the next few nights in Freiburg. But looks like an easy day trip.

Yes, we did a day trip from Colmar to Freiburg last year exactly the way described by Andrew H. We bought are bus/train combo ticket directly from the bus driver in Colmar. (FYI: the bus to train connection in Breisach is very easy and well-timed.)

Once in Freiburg, we followed Rick's self-guided walk from the train station past squares/fountains, visited the outdoor market in the Münsterplatz, listened to the bells playing in the cathedral and had lunch in a typical German Biergarten. It was a fun day!
