Colmar to Chamonix by rail

Hello,
First time poster, but a long time fan. We are trying to get to Chamonix from Colmar beginning 4 November and are hoping to do so by rail. What we are finding is for ticketing the Swiss app has exactly what we want for the journey but it says it is unable to sell us the tickets and to please come to one of the offices. We are wondering if anyone of the seasoned Swiss rail riders have any advice for us. Thank you so much in advance for any advice.
Ps this would be a one way journey

It is too far advance to buy tickets for November 4, 2024 online; the tickets have not been released yet.
I'd check the SBB site again in about a month.

I see that it is available for purchase at www.sbb.ch/en, but it is pretty pricey at 138.10 CHF. This includes 17 CHF for Colmar to Basel, 8 CHF for Vallorcine to Chamonix Mont Blanc, and 113.10 CHF for the Swiss section from Basel to Vallorcine. Here is a trick to save some cash if your travel plans are set.

You can buy a 2nd class Saver Day Pass now for 52 CHF for Nov 4, so that will cover the entire Swiss section, so your ticket cost will now be 77 CHF, saving you over 66 CHF per person.

Hello Sam,
Thanks so much for the reply. I should have mentioned we have two 7 day eurail global passes.

Then you do not have to buy anything. Just pick your preferred departure time and get on board. You do not need any tickets or reservations. All the French trains are TER's with no reserved seats. Swiss trains don't require reservations, and only IC or EC trains even have them for sale.

Thank you again Sam! With the recent app update the route has shown up. But if I understand you right there is no need to reserve any seats?

The SBB app is not able to sell int'l tickets but the SBB website does.

The Eurail Global Pass covers the entire journey and no seat reservations are required, or even available, for the most part.
