Colmar question

I will be doing a day trip from Switzerland to Colmar. I am thinking I might stay overnight in order to visit the nearby villages. I have 2 questions: Where would be the best spot to stay? Also, has anyone taken a fun organized day trip to the nearby villages? I won’t have a car.

Thanks in advance.

Do you want to stay in Colmar or one of the wine villages?

There are many companies that do Route de Vin tours that stop in several villages. The one we took with Ophorus was a full day and included one small family wine operation. Otherwise we learned history and stopped in several villages. It was perfect!

I stayed at the Ibis Styles Colmar Center. It's right on the edge of the old town and a short walk from the train station. I was there in October of last year. The young ladies working at reception were very nice and fluent in English.

If you do stay the night, I can recommend dinner at Wistub Brenner. Alsatian cuisine. About a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into that tour. I appreciate the hotel suggestion too!

Be sure to make dinner reservations in Colmar, especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

I recently stayed at Hotel Saint-Martin. It was right in the center on a pedestrian street (Easter Market was going on when I was there, right out the front door) and really a cute hotel with a lot of charm. Good breakfast, very nice staff. Kind of depends on what your needs and price point are!

We also stayed at Hotel St. Martin and Pam is spot on. Right in the center of everthing and one can walk everywhere. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
