Colmar hotel recommendations

Hello! I am new to this forum and will be traveling to Colmar for Christmas. My daughter has been in Paris studying for the semester. We will be visiting the Alsace region for the first time and are very excited. Wondering if anyone has stayed at the Le Colombiere Hotel in Little Venice, Colmar. If so, I would appreciate any feedback. A lot of hotels are fully booked, but this was still available. Also, any other hotel recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We could also stay in Strasbourg, just kinda fell in love with Colmar’s fairytale ambiance.

If you've not already done so, check out Hotel St Martin. Stayed there several years ago and would do so again. Very central location and could walk everwhere.

We stayed at Colmar Hotel, 14 Rte de Rouffach in May. It’s by the train station and has free parking if you have a rental car. The town’s free navette shuttle bus starts and ends its route at the train station. It came in handy when we didn’t want to walk into town and it runs six days a week.

We were just in Colmar (10/4-10/7) and stayed at Le Colombier for 3 nights. Great location, lovely staff, huge bathroom, good breakfast. They have a nice indoor courtyard. Our very comfortable room was across the street in a separate building- I believe they have several buildings there. Very secure. Parked in their garage.
Highly recommend.

I was just recently in Colmar as well (10 days ago). We stayed at Paul & Pia - Welcome Home Hotel. Just outside the old town but an easy walk. Reasonably priced, included breakfast (which we weren't able to eat but looked great) and lots of parking right outside the door.

I'm voting with TC! I loved the Hotel Saint-Martin. Right on one of the plazas where the market stalls are located, but it may be booked. I loved the paintings of angels on the doors to the rooms.

I've not stayed at La Colombiere but have walked in that neighborhood and it's a nice spot. IF they have vacancies, I'd check the cancellation policies and if acceptable, go ahead and book, then continue to look if you like.

Has anyone stay in Riquewihr? Found a great Air B&B there, but concerned about how easy it is to get to and from there. There is a bus that goes to and from Colmar and Riquewihr. I did book Le Colombiere and I can cancel up to 2 weeks prior to check in. The other lovely hotel recommendations are booked…sadly. So appreciate all the advice from fellow travelers! Thank you!

I stayed at this hotel on in Colmar, and would absolutely stay there again - https://www.rapp-hotel.com/en/ . It's in the main part of town and easy walking distance to the sights and good restaurants.

We also stayed in Riquewihr-at LeSchonenbourg just outside the walls
We had a car
Riquewihr is delightful-was our favorite village but it is teeny tiny

Without a car I would stay in Colmar

Is there something you didn’t like about Le Colombier?
I would think at this late date you’re lucky to find any available rooms IN Colmar-Christmas season is super popular

We stayed 5 nights at Hotel Le Maréchal in Colmar last month and would highly recommend it. The hotel is beautiful inside and out, the breakfast was excellent, it's right on the edge of the Little Venice area, and it's an easy, short walk from the train station. We had a room overlooking the canal and really enjoyed the view.

BTW, Colmar is a great base for exploring the Alsace Wine Route towns. We used the Kutzig "hop on / hop off" shuttle bus a couple of days, and found the schedule very convenient. It originates at the Colmar train station, and stops in each of the towns on the circular route every 1 1/2 hours. Never had any trouble getting a seat on the bus at any of the towns, and it was always right on time.

We stayed at Hotel Restaurant Saint-Nicolas in Riquewihr in the fall of 2021. Lovely place. The staff was fantastic and the restaurant is good. They have available free parking just outside the city wall, not too far of a walk. I would definitely stay there again.
