Going to be staying in Colmar 5 nights in November and using it as a home base for day trips to Freiburg, Strousburg and surrounding areas. I'm looking for an upscale, 3 bedroom apartment. Does anyone know of any rental companies that specialize in that area? I'd love to know what else is out there besides going through Airbnb and VRBO. Thank you!
If it's the end of November, you'll be competing with folks going to the Xmas markets, so do secure lodging asap. Have a great trip!
Yes, thank you. That is why I'm hoping to find something sooner than later!
It's a busy time in Strasbourg and Colmar then. You might try gites-de-france.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment Serenity in Colmar in July 2024.
I believe they have multiple properties.
It was really nice.
Judy mentions Gîtes de France, which has been renting homes and apartments for 70 years, way longer than Airbnb or Vrbo. We’ve stayed in hannover the years, and I’ve just found at least one 3-bedroom place in Colmar: €112 a night @

but you might find more by searching their Website. Searching their properties requires some extra effort, as they don’t have a Search function by city, but by region. Colmar falls under the Grand Est, or more narrowly, the Haut-Rhin region. And even with English translation, a lot of the Website’s still in French. Still, could this maybe work?
Two years ago, in August, not November, we stayed in Bergheim, northwest of Colmar and Southwest of Strasbourg, at an Airbnb apartment.
Thank you so much for the link. Just curious if anyone thinks staying in Colmar for 5 days during the start of the Christmas markets will be too touristy and crowded every time we step outside our door. Thoughts? Wondering if we should stay in a smaller nearby town that still has cafes and restaurants and not too quiet but just day trip to Colmar? Thank you so much.
Colmar gets a lot of day trippers so it's much busier during the day than in the evenings. The evenings are calm.
I’ve been to Colmar during the markets three times. I wouldn’t go again on a weekend. Weekdays can be crowded, but it’s manageable. Weekends are uncomfortably crowded.
If your time in Colmar is over a weekend, consider a day trip to Strasbourg. It’s larger, so the crowds don’t seem as intolerable.
I would stay in Strasbourg instead of Colmar. Strasbourg has more markets and they are more spread out. Plus, the lights and decoration in Strasbourg are incredible!
